Finding ‘Check Survey’ Spots

MWD operators often need to match surveys to particular points in a run. A common example of this is during ‘check survey’, which is recommended to be done near the last MWD survey on the previous run. For check survey, finding the last survey on the previous run is fairly straightforward since that survey is probably the very last survey done.
But how about when you need to identify survey locations beyond that, on preceding runs?

Finding those End-of-Bit Run Surveys

In Mezintel Gamma (version 22.98.128 [1]), the survey table includes a column that labels Well Bore Name and Bit Run for each recorded survey. Also, sets of surveys per bit run are differentiated by border lines and alternating cell color.

Surveys per run are made obvious by the red borderlines and alternating cell shading.

These labeling and visual cues help operators quickly find the junction points at which surveys transition between bit runs – i.e. the first and last surveys on each run.
And remember, you can mark surveys as ‘check surveys’ when applicable.

So, with Mezintel Gamma you are covered when it comes to quickly finding important milestones in the wellbore drilling trajectory.
